With 28+ years of leadership in management, governance, technical excellence and business growth across Australia’s power and energy sector, Asif is recognised as one of the nation’s leading Principal Engineers in transmission line engineering and delivery. He brings end-to-end expertise across every discipline of Transmission & Distribution, including environmental and stakeholder engagement, land survey, geotechnical investigations, route selection, electrical design, and civil/structural design.

Asif currently serves as the Chair of CIGRE Australia’s Overhead Lines Panel, leading utilities, contractors and consultants nationwide to drive innovation, set best practice, challenge the status quo and undertake critical research for the transmission industry.

He has hands-on experience across the full asset lifecycle—from design to construction to operations—including leading major projects and network operations at AusNet Services (Victoria) and delivering large-scale transmission infrastructure across Australia.

• Presented a global tutorial on “Risk Modelling for Overhead Line (OHL) Networks” to over 150 international experts at CIGRE Paris Session 2024 – one of the most prestigious forums in the power industry.
   
• Authored and presented a technical paper on “Network Resilience under Extreme Weather Events and Regulatory Challenges” at the CIGRE Colloquium, Sendai, Japan (2023).
   
• Speaker at the ENA Conference (Brisbane, 2022) on the impact of extreme weather events on electricity networks.
   
• Delivered at the Australasian Structural Engineering Conference (ASEC) 2022 on resilience of ageing high-voltage transmission structures.
   
• Key contributor to the Electricity Sector Climate Information (ESCI) Project, led in collaboration with AEMO and national electricity stakeholders  in response to the Independent review into the future security of the National Electricity Market.
